This Too Shall Pass

But until it does I cry myself to sleep every night. (This too shall pass.) In the daytime and around people I pretend everything is okay – that I’m getting better; and I suppose I am, but I did not expect to be this sick for this long. I did not expect that all I could accomplish in a day would be to walk around a couple of blocks and take a shower, take a nap, and watch a movie. I had to give up Stella and I don’t actually miss her but I miss Gracie like I can’t believe.

I’ve managed to avoid the pain-killers entirely for the last couple of days, but that has just meant that I’m in more pain. (This too shall pass.)

    Hang in there chris

    you are physically sick
    you just had surgery
you have the stress of (as yet) unresolved debt payments which you will need to get advice on from debt councellors
    you recently lost a pet
you got some duff advice from a chiropractor that placed your health in serious risk
you are dealing with the destabilizing effects of all those regular meds they give you down the hospital. perfectly legitimate and normal for surgery.
    PLUS
    you just gave up smoking
    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OF COURSE !!!! you will be feeling like crap for a while
    !!
its perfectly normal and understandable under the circumstances

yeah it will all seem like some distant memory down the line. something that revealed things to you about yourself and all sorts. something that enriches your future existence.

but yeah for now. it SUCKS. But like EVERY !!! other thing in the known universe. It will come and go.

You’re right. It will pass. Yes it will feel yukky and (seemingly) unbearable. but it is not. you know yourself im sure how many stories in aa you hear of alcoholics like you who faced with what seem like impossible circumstances, pull through and find a way out. you can too. but you are required to ‘endure’ this unpleasant transition period, which feels endless i know, but I can assure you, WILL end :) ..and thats it really.

As Winston Churchill says.. “If you are going through hell, keep going.”

  3. Oh, Chris! I’m so sorry you have been so sick. That’s terrible. I’m glad you got the treatment you needed, but damn, surgery? Two surgeries? Removing parts of Chris? That’s pretty extreme. It must be a really wicked thing that attacked you. I’m glad you’re getting better.

As for the medical bills, I dunno. On the one hand it’s just money. On the other hand it’s a hell of a lot of money.

You’re right, though. This, too, shall pass. While it’s passing, be good to yourself. As good as you can be.
