What a trip.

Hey! Are any of you going to the CMA World Service Conference in Park City in a couple of weeks?  I totally want to go.  CMA is super new here in Boise.  There have been meetings in Twin Falls, ID for awhile now and people have tried to start meetings here before as long as 5 years ago, but none of them lasted more than a couple of months.  Well a Friday night meeting started up here about 3 weeks ago and a Monday-Friday noon meeting started last Monday.  I attended the meeting on Tuesday, and while it was quite small, there was actually some pretty good recovery in that room. Days I’m not working I’m definitely going to attend.

And it was really nice to not have to disguise my drug of choice by saying things like “get loaded” instead of “get high” like I do in AA meetings. And one of the fears I’ve had about CMA meetings before is the possibility of being seriously triggered.  I’m sure I’m not the only one who can spot someone who’s high at 100 yards or who’s dick gets hard when I do. My sponsor told me that even at 37 years sober he still has that response. He’s just learned to turn and walk the other direction, whereas I sit on my hands and stare. (And drool, probably.) I was really impressed by the fact that the CMA preamble recognizes that and suggests that many of us have the same response.

I had to work today at noon but I’m looking forward to going back to CMA tomorrow. And I’d like to find a way to go to the service conference in Park City. Park City is not that far away and it would be a shame to miss it.

  1. If you can at all, go. Many of the LA buds are going, and they’re the cream of LA CMA, super service-oriented , spiritually (and physically) fit. Use my name liberally.

  2. I live about 40 minutes from Park City in the valley but I won’t be up there this weekend. In really like this site and read it at least a couple time a week, I have a link from mine over to here. Hope you get the chance to make it to PC.
